Lena R. Hann, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor and Chair of Public Health at Augustana College (Illinois), a US-Sweden Fulbright Scholar in Abortion & Reproductive Justice (2024-25), and a former abortion care worker with over 20 years of experience in community-based abortion care, teaching, research, and clinical best practices. She is the author of two innovative clinical books about pregnancy tissue viewing for abortion providers that are in use in over 300 clinics worldwide.
Lena offers in-person and virtual consulting, staff training, workshops, and guest speaking for clinics who want to 1) destigmatize the fetus in abortion care; 2) reframe clinic policies and practices around patient-centered pregnancy tissue viewing; 3) train staff on how to respond to patient questions about the fetus and fetal tissue; 4) dive into values clarification around fetal development and abortion care at increasing gestations; 5) design mission-centered values and practices for providers, staff, and patients who are curious about fetal tissue; and 6) explore the intersection of pregnancy-tissue viewing, reproductive justice, and pro-choice narratives in a Post-Dobbs world, especially for abortions after the first trimester. A certified yoga, meditation, and breathwork teacher, Lena can also weave employee mindfulness, wellness, and self-care themes into any training or workshop.
